1 Timothy 1:6-7

Certain persons by swerving from love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith – have wandered away into vain discussion, desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding  either what they are saying or the things about which they make confident assertions. – 1 Timothy 1:6-7

Dear Jesus,

I understand from your word that when I am immersed in the gospel I will talk less about rules for life and principles and more about the pure holiness that a changed heart pursues.  I won’t be as concerned about rights, authority and privilege as I am about compassion, commitment, self-control and kindness.  I won’t care so much about immediate visible change but the change that love makes deep in the heart that cannot help but show itself in a quiet spirit, a peaceful demeanor and loving approach to people.  Help me, Lord Jesus, to let you my belief in you create me to be a humble, forgiving, serving friend of all sinners.

Amen
