John 6:28-29
Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” – John 6:28-29
Dear Jesus,
Rescue me from my constant focus on myself and my own good life. It’s so easy to get so caught up in practical application to my life of service that I silently, quietly slip into a me focus instead of a you focus. When your generation asked you what work they could do, you said “Believe in me.” I see now that faith really is beginning of anything truly spiritual in my life. Help me to be you centered and not the Christian life centered. The first is the vine. The latter is the branch on the vine. And strengthen my faith in you so much that the fruit of a good life flows out of who I am before I ever try to learn tips and practical guides. Give me the peace and love that flow from faith. Make my life a fruitful branch and never let me sever myself from your vine.
AMEN

The most practical thing we could ever do is fill ourselves with the Christ to overflowing. The rest is just details.
