Psalm 16:5-6

Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;
    you make my lot secure.

The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
    surely I have a delightful inheritance. – Psalm 16:5-6

Dear Lord,

With my fickle heart I always seem to find something to grumble about, instead of embracing the reality that you have marked out for me.  It is good for my soul to see David talk about accepting the hand dealt him in Psalm 16.  He said that the boundaries that you placed on his life were pleasant.  But even David broke through those boundaries with discontent and sinned grossly with Bathsheba, another man’s wife.  We all fail at finding perfect obedient, contentment.  That’s why it’s good to know that this psalm really is about your son, Jesus, who perfectly accepted his life and how it would end.  His perfect worship and praise for you even though you dealt him a short life filled with trouble, leads me to believe I am covered by his perfection and guided by his example.  Oh Lord.  thank you for rescuing me by sending your son to be the perfect man in my place and please reach down and help me embrace my reality with appreciation for your wisdom in ordering my life this way.

AMEN
