Ruth 4:18-22

This, then, is the family line of Perez:

Perez was the father of Hezron,

Hezron the father of Ram,

Ram the father of Amminadab,

Amminadab the father of Nahshon,

Nahshon the father of Salmon,

Salmon the father of Boaz,

Boaz the father of Obed,

Obed the father of Jesse,

and Jesse the father of David. - Ruth 4:18-22

Dear heavenly Father,

I usually am walking out of the theater when the credits are rolling on the screen.  But when I pause for a moment to contemplate why you put this genealogy of David at the end of the story of Ruth, the list of "credits" is like the last piece of a jigsaw puzzle.  It crowns the picture with the final thought.  You were working in Ruth and Naomi's life to bring us David, whose life teaches us volumes, whose psalms reverberate in our hearts, whose descendant saved our souls.  Ruth and David fit together and they fit together with me too. Oh, what a wonderful God you are.  It makes me smile to think that the One who invented my life also executed a multi millennial plan to preserve it.  I will live in peace today because you created David from Ruth and gave us Jesus from David.
