Ruth 4:16-17

Then Naomi took the child in her arms and cared for him. The women living there said, “Naomi has a son!” And they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David. - Ruth 4:16-17

Dear Heavenly Father, 

What great joy Naomi had when she could claim Ruth's child, Obed, as her heir and raise him as the family legacy!  Her long journey punctuated with great loss was over.  She was resettled and recharged with a small child in her home.  You showed her that you are the God who saves and restores.  It gives me hope to cling to and hope to share with others that you still have great life gifts in store for them.  More importantly when I read the last words of this verse I marvel that this story isn't just about Naomi and Ruth.  It's about David and the blessing he brought to earth through his descendant and yours, our Savior Jesus.  Help me to remember that my little story finds it's greatest meaning in that it is connected to your grand story of global love and rescue.  Make my tasks and issues today small and make your story big for me.
