Isaiah 49:15-16

Isaiah 49_15-16.jpg

But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me,
    the Lord has forgotten me.”

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast    and have no compassion on the child she has borne?  Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me. - Isaiah 49:15-16

Dear Heavenly Father,

When you let troubles surprise me or things turn out less than I wanted or expected, it's easy to think you have forgotten me, especially when I encounter severe trouble.  I can be so brave to encourage others and so quick to be discouraged myself.  It's good to know that your love for me exceeds my mom's.  You have engraved my name on your hand.  That gives me great peace.  Please help me understand what you're doing by allowing adversity to invade my life when I have steadily tried to serve you.  Give me the wisdom I need to carry on trusting you and your word even though I suffer under your watchful eye.  Make me trust you the way your Son did when you let him suffer in my place.

Amen
