Ephesians 4:29-32

Ephesians 4_29-32.jpg

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God,with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. - Ephesians 4:29-32

Dear Jesus,

Put a sentry at the door of my mouth that makes me think hard about everything I say so that all words are soft and gentle even when they are pointed and forthright. Give me a forgiving heart like yours so I'm reticent to remind people of their failings just to change behavior or get my way.  Help me to get rid of all arguments and debate and make all of my words build faith and share truth. Help me to say words worth remembering that no one tries to forget.

Amen
