James 4:13-17

Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them. – James 4:13-17

Dear Jesus,

I am totally dependent on you for life, breath, food, shelter and peace. My plans for anything in my life are just that, my plans. I do not know what you have in store for me. You have surprised me with challenges and blessings thousands of times. There are things I want to accomplish in this short life of mine but they are irrelevant when you are writing my story. Write my story, Jesus. I let go. I will do the good things I know to do. If there are more things you want me to do, make it painfully obvious to me. If it’s your will, I will live to fulfill my bucket list. But your bucket list is more important to me.

Amen

We live in God’s world the way our pets live with us. He governs our whole lives and gives us freedom to make many little decisions within his magnificent will.
