James 4:11-12
Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor? – James 4:11-12
Dear Jesus,
I can have my opinions about others’ weaknesses and sins, but that doesn’t make me their judge. I am a sinner like them. I am going to leave the judge’s bench and take my seat next to those I feel critical toward. You are our judge. If I need to correct someone for you I will, but I will not condemn them. That’s yours to do. You want all people to be saved. So, you are slow to bring down the hammer. I want to learn that slowness. I want to be forgiving, patient and loving with everyone. Oh, Jesus, purify my heart so prone to go rogue with judgement and criticism. Help me protect the reputation of people with whom I share your garden patch.
Amen
