James 5:17-18

Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. – James 5:17-18

Dear Jesus,

If you heard the prayer of that frail prophet prone to doubt and depression, surely you hear my prayers and will act on my behalf. I have seen you answer prayer in embarrassingly obvious ways.  I have many needs and so do the people I serve.  Hear my requests and act on them the way you obeyed your promise to help Elijah.  Please help your gospel to spread.  Please heal the people I love who are ill and troubled.  Please save the souls of those I know that are lost.  Please increase a hunger for your word in my church.  Please make my pastors and leaders messengers of truth that releases spiritual bondage and strikes down unbelief.  Make our nation hunger for you.  Make all wars cease and interfere with those who abuse the vulnerable.  Bless the good work of our hands to change the lives of others.   Here our prayers and change the course of history before our eyes!

Amen

Pastor Don Patterson

One curse we carry around from the fall into sin is the natural belief that we can do more with our activity than we can with our prayers.
