James 3:7-12

James 3_7-12.jpg

All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water. – James 3:7-12

Dear Jesus,

Only you can tame by tongue by changing my heart so that it drives my words from a heart changed by grace.  When my thoughts are changed into love, grace and peace, my tongue spouts blessing and encouragement.  I have experienced the change countless times.  But I need it new every day or easily slip into my old negative spirit.  So, fill me with your gracious spirit so I infiltrate every relationship with blessings.

Amen

Pastor Don Patterson

You can plant flowers or weeds with your tongue in human hearts.  One will bless countless others.  The other will make hard work for people as they try to pull them out of their hearts.
