1 Peter 1:17-19

Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.           – 1 Peter 1:17-19

Dear heavenly Father,

I know what great sacrifice you made in order to redeem my soul.  You gave up your only Son!  That’s the reason I want to live in order to please you.  You have changed my motivation for everything. It’s only when I forget the extreme gift you have given that I start to lag in my attitude and get sloppy in my obedience. I don’t always have every reason to live a godly life but I have the greatest reason; I have been rescued from a dead end life by the dead end life of Christ who had every reason to avoid suffering. Now, everything in my life has meaning, including suffering, pain, sorrow and disappointment.  They are all opportunities to serve you and my fellow humans.  Of God, make me a servant deep in my heart so what I do on the surface is the true display of why I do it in my soul.

Amen
