1 Peter 1:10-12

Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things. – 1 Peter 1:10-12

Dear Jesus,

I often think of how great it would have been to be one of the prophets to whom you gave your very words to share with humanity.  But then Peter reminds me that blessed as they were, none of the prophets got to see your entire story in their lifetime.  Instead, they painted their part of the story and then passed into glory without seeing it unfold on earth.  You chose me to live in the times when the gospel is easy to understand and to teach to others.  You me and my generation to know the finished story and to experience the life changing power of grace proclaimed.  Thank you for making me live now and not then.  I know how fortunate I am to the be the beneficiary of your choice.
