Romans 12:9-10

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. – Romans 12:9-10

Dear Jesus,

You loved your disciples when they were good and bad.  You served them when they were not serving you.  You loved them big when they loved you small.  They struggled with a lot of things you said to them, but they didn’t have to struggle to believe that you loved them.  It was the signature of every conversation, every meal, every outdoor adventure and every quiet moment together. You sincerely loved each one of them singularly.  Give me the same sincere love for every human being so I don’t categorize people into different groups with differing worthiness of my love.  Help me make the pauper feel his wealth and the homely his beauty.  Give me “grace amnesia” toward those who’ve hurt me and patience for those who’ve forgotten to forgive me.
AMEN

Sincere love is more radical and memorable than the best Super Bowl commercial.
