1 Timothy 6:10-12

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.  11 But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. – 1 Timothy 6:10-12

Dear Jesus,

I‘m a person of my culture.  I’m tempted to pursue wealth and material goods as my success in life.  But these are simply idols.  They always leave me lonely and with another hill to climb.  Give me the wisdom and insight to pursue the spiritual goods of love, faith and gentleness.  As you add these blessings to my life, I know they won’t leave me lacking.  They will make me rich and contented in my heart.  Earthly things will not satisfy the hungers of my heart.  They are like cotton candy.  My heart is satisfied by spiritual virtues that come from you.  Come by your Holy Spirit and make my heart rich with yourself.  AMEN
