Philippians 2:27

Indeed Epaphroditus was ill, and almost died. But God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, to spare me sorrow upon sorrow. – Philippians 2:27

Dear Jesus,

You spared Paul’s friend not just for himself but for Paul to save him from overwhelming sorrow.  Recently, you have allowed some of my dearest loved ones to have health problems.  I beg of you, heal their bodies and keep them here on earth with me.  I know you will do what is best as well as what fits your eternal plan for all of us.  But you also dare me to ask for specific gifts because I am your beloved child.  So, I ask you to heal my loved ones and spare them of pain and me of sorrow.  I ask in confidence that you have already fixed all things and will finally deliver your gift of salvation on the last day.

AMEN

When we get ill, it is not just a matter of germs and treatments.  It is also a matter of divine intervention and faith.
