1 Timothy 4:8

Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. – 1 Timothy 4:8

Dear Jesus,

Wow, how serious you are that a mark of faith is that we provide basic needs to our family.  I can see from the context of this verse that you mean both the generation before and after me.  You created family to be that place where our basic physical and spiritual needs are met.  I saw you amazingly provide for your mother right to the very end from the excruciating cross.  While you were dying you made sure she had a home.  Help me to find joy and purpose in providing companionship, money, memories, your word and any other blessings you might inspire me to give to my family.  And even when I am suffering in the throes of my physical end, give me the selflessness to give one last provision to each and every person near and dear to me.

AMEN
