‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:38-40

Matthew_ _5_38-40.png

You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth. But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.“Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. - ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:38-40

Dear Jesus,

Our natural inclination is to fight for our own rights and defend our freedom. But you tell us that it’s strength to wrestle our own selves to the turf and let others have their way. You call us to believe that if we react
kindly to someone being mean that our actions will work on their hearts to convert them to your love. I want to go there but I need your supernatural help to believe it’s going to work. Otherwise it seems like foolishness. Help me trust your word over my own opinions. Make me
change agent for others.

Amen

Pastor Don Patterson

When we love our enemies we turn them into friends.
