Psalm 139:1-6

Psalms 139_1-6.jpg

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;  you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;    you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue    you, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before,    and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,    too lofty for me to attain.

Psalm 139:1-6

Dear Heavenly Father,

When I read these words from David I am blown away by two thoughts.  First, that you know me better than I know myself.  You know every detail of my life from the moment my dad winked at my mom to the moment I will gasp with one last breath.  Every moment, every thought, every word and every deed, you know perfectly.  How can that be?  The second thought that blows my mind is this:  You love me even though you know me.  This I cannot fathom logically either.  But this illogical pair of thoughts are my mainstay in life.  I am known and loved by God, my Creator,/redeemer.  It's enough to help me carry on in the hope, faith and love that makes life real.  Thank you for revealing to me what I need to live out my days with the highest dignity, meaning and purpose.

Amen
