1 Timothy 6:17-19

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life. - 1 Timothy 6:17-19

Dear Jesus,

It's so easy for us who receive your earthly blessings to think we have inflated value and are no longer dependent on you for anything.  Over confidence and anxiety are two sides of the same coin.  All I have is a gift from you.  Help me to put my hope in you and not my temporary life.  Give me the life that is truly life, a life lived with eyes fully fixed on you.  Make me generous and willing to help my wealthy friends be generous too.  I treasure my salvation more than anything else.  Help me to show this in the way I live and encourage others to live.

Amen

True wealth is the freedom to be a conduit for blessing toward others instead of a reservoir for oneself.
