Philippians 2:3-4
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. -Philippians 2:3-4
Dear Jesus,
I was born looking out for my own interests and it has been a lifelong struggle to free myself from that passion. It seems that the whole universe starts with me and moves outward at times. Fill me with your selfless heart and help me avoid doing things for selfish ambition. Help me start with you and others when I think about the world and how I fit in. Give me a love for all people that it is beyond my natural reason. Don’t let me make excuses or rationalize myself out of valuing others more than myself. Teach me to leave it all on the field on earth until my last breath. Because that’s what you did for me and I want to do that for others. Amen
