Ephesians 5:18-20

Ephesians 5_18-20.jpg

Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. - Ephesians 5:18-20

Dear Jesus,

I wonder how many people know that you designed spiritual music to do what they reach for alcohol to accomplish. I wonder how many of your own children realize that thankful praise is better than the buzz of wine. I guess it doesn't matter to me how many others understand your power in music as long as I get it. Dear Lord, help me to sing spiritual songs in my heart, to share them with my friends and family and to use them to wind down at the end of the day. Remind me that a godly hymn is a great way to ramp up in the morning. Give me the music and lyrics that lead my heart to the green pastures of love, faith, hope and peace. And when I am lonely in my thoughts come to me with your Spirit's songs to be a companion for my lonesome soul.

Amen
