1 Peter 3:9-12

Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. For,

“Whoever would love life
    and see good days
must keep their tongue from evil
    and their lips from deceitful speech.
They must turn from evil and do good;
    they must seek peace and pursue it.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
    and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” – 1 Peter 3:9-12

 Dear Jesus,

Our natural inclination is to treat others how they have treated us.  It’s almost an instantaneous response.  Thank you for sending your Holy Spirit to help us seek peace with all people.  As I begin my day, give me the clarity of mind to seek peace with everyone so matter what level of dealings I have with them.  And if I am treated poorly, give me the quick mind and willing heart to respond with kindness and gentleness.  That way I will make you and your gospel as attractive as it really is.

Amen

Meet insult with kindness and you'll plant flowers in the desert.
