He (Jesus) himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed. – 1 Peter 2:24

Dear Jesus,

I was born with the disease called sin and selfishness.  It has been my downfall in every failure and the root cause of all my mistakes.  It threatened to kill me forever, but you have created the cure for my illness.  In your own body you took the death it promised me.  You took the punishment I had earned with it.  You took the sting out of my guilt because you healed me by wounding yourself.  Now, I want to hate sin, not because I am afraid but because I love you for what you have done.  I want to do right in your eyes and what’s best for others.  I want to be righteous, not by force but by love.  Oh Jesus, Help me to live in the healing power of your great sacrifice so what you did on the cross creates a new living servant in me.  AMEN

When we take in what good Christ did for us we will take out what bad we do toward others.
