Ruth 3:1-4

One day Ruth’s mother-in-law Naomi said to her, “My daughter, I must find a home for you, where you will be well provided for. Now Boaz, with whose women you have worked, is a relative of ours. Tonight he will be winnowing barley on the threshing floor. Wash, put on perfume, and get dressed in your best clothes. Then go down to the threshing floor, but don’t let him know you are there until he has finished eating and drinking. When he lies down, note the place where he is lying. Then go and uncover his feet and lie down. He will tell you what to do.” - Ruth 3:1-4

Dear Heavenly Father,

I love seeing this ancient dating advice.  It's like Naomi was telling Ruth to go give Boaz her cell number, but it was ten times more of an offer.  By lying down at his feet and covering herself with the corner of his garment she would be saying, "I will marry you if you want me to. I need your love and protection." Wow, that is speed dating at it's finest.  It breaks all the norms I have in my mind for how a couple should journey through a relationship.  And you blessed the plan!  They had a wonderful marriage and brought the world a son who was an ancestor to your son.  You are an amazing God, who brings great blessing out of the ashes of total destruction.  Help me to remember this story when my children and grandchildren date.  You are behind every event working a plan that no one can see.  I recognize that not every relationship will follow conventional wisdom.  I yield to your unconventional miraculous ways.

Amen

God still brings people together just as he brought Eve to Adam that first day of their lives.
