Isaiah 55:1-5
Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters;
and you who have no money, come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.
Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David. See, I have made him a witness to the peoples, a ruler and commander of the peoples. Surely you will summon nations you know not, and nations you do not know will come running to you, because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor.” – Isaiah 55:1-5
Dear Lord,
I love the promise you make that you have blessings from grace waiting for me to drop by and pick up from you. It’s so easy to live with anxious pressure to create my own blessings instead of focusing on trusting you and serving you with my whole heart. You gave David the special covenant of love that made him an inspired prophet and chosen child while he served as king of your people. You blessed his life with everything he needed for him and his family with an abundance more to bless many other people. But more than anything else, you revealed to David your words that showed your gracious heart and loving forgiveness. You have chosen me to know your grace just like you chose David. Help me to give joyful witness to everyone that you are the God of the universe who has given us life and then crowned us with eternal life through the sacrifice of your one and only son.
Amen
